This happened perhaps 4 or 5 years ago.
Irwin was not a good man and eventually karma caught up with him and Bamboo Palace was taken to repay gambling debts. ( Not Irwins)
By this time Irwin was friendless both in Bali and Australia.
He liked to tell customers about the farm he owned back in Australia. In fact he had around 15 or so hectare complete with a falling down "house" 5 hours out of Melbourne, but had fallen out with his neighbour and was banned from the pub in the local one horse town 20 minutes away.
He was 63, had no money and because of his age and attitude who would employ him? So rather than ekeing out a lonely existence on the dole and then the pension I guess he decided to end it in Bali.
