My comments were made from the viewpoint of a person walking down the street and encountering a dog laying on the footpath or wherever for the first time.
I envisaged that this would be the posters situation.
You are more referring to a situation where some sort of people / dog bonding has taken place over time.
I would not want to mislead anyone into thinking that you can walk up to any Bali street dog and try to cuddle it!!
Although I agree that dogs respond to being shown continual affection by people, in Bali or anywhere else, it still must be remembered that people get bitten by street dogs in Bali fairly regularly so caution needs to be exercised when demonstrating kindness.
I have a daughter with a scar on her leg to stand testimony to that :0)
