Sorry, but we have 2 Bali dogs (from the street) and have taken in over 20 and found them homes in the past few years, we cannot go past a puppy abandoned. Our neighbours also have Bali dogs and we have many on our local beach that a lot of our neighbours give the locals dog food for and I can say that every one of these dogs craves love and attention and wants to be patted. A few may be cautious at first as they have been ill treated but after a few days of them feeling safe they want just as much attention as a "western house pet". I have one begging to sit in my lap as I type this and another one laying under my feet. I grew up on a farm so these dogs are far more affectionate then I am used to as our farm dogs were working dogs. Actually all the Bali dogs in our neighbouhood are more affectionate then the Western dogs. even our neighbour with a Golden retriever comments on that point.
BAWA are great but please also consider B.A.R.C, run by an Australia,Linda has 15 dogs in her own home at the moment as well as 50 in her shelter in Ubud. Unlike BAWA Linda shelters the dogs as well as treating, BAWA will not shelter more than a few dogs, that is why we always end up with them, they come to us to treat them and then ask us to find them homes. BAWA is doing a great job but Linda needs some support, her health is actually declining herself as she spends all her own money and time with these dogs
I am glad you buy dog food but please do not think they have different expectations. Go to the shelter at BARC and see 50 dogs run at you for a cuddle. Linda actually asks if people could spare the time if they don't have the money to go to her shelter and just hug a pup or dog for a few minutes, they need love!
