I own an establishment and yes there is always two sides to the story. I am not sure of the security of your luggage during the period, I just find it difficult to believe that hotel staff would do this. Its seems to me that most value their jobs.
My only comment regarding additional cleaning - sheets etc is the hotel would have a right to charge.
Ive had guests who have washed sheets or soaked pillow slips because they were concerned about stains. Done so out of concern & knowing what its like to remove stains.
Its interesting being on my side of the fence.
In any case it seems this hotel wasnt for you best of luck with your next one.
