Indonesia could extend the same visa arrangements to Australians as we extend to them. In that case you would have to organise the visa before the trip. You can then spend the next couple of months organising so you can:
-Provide proof of health insurance or adquate funds to cover emergency hospital treatment
- prove that you can meet certain health requirements
- show you have enough funds for your stay, including copies of your payslips and bank statements
- prove that you have a job and provide letters from your employer
- meet certain character requirements ( which would be the gotcha for some of the dubious characters on this forum ;-)
AND then pay $105 for the application, with no guarantee of approval or refund if it's rejected.
- Send your passport off for a couple of weeks while all this goes on.
That's what it takes for an Indonesian to get a tourist visa to Australia. Luckily the Indonesian government makes it MUCH easier for Australians to visit Indonesia - we can just jump on a plane, pay US25 on arrival and we are in for 30 days. How easy can that be?
Alternatively, for those that don't like the VOA arrangement - go somewhere else and stop whinging.
