The layout and size of the Puri Raja mean that if there is loatish behaviour with noisy late night parties etc, you will be able to hear it all
The beach front pool area too is quite small and gets crowded. It depends on your level of tolerance and budget.
The smaller size of the hotel and its popularity with Australians does create a nicer, friendlier atmosphere than you might find at some of the larger, more expensive hotels.
We have friends, in their 70s, who are very happy staying there, even though occasionally they've been woken up in the early hours of the morning by drunk people returning to their rooms, banging doors etc. For them the good points of the hotel outweigh the bad. A matter of personal choice really.
