I looked @ it 10 yrs ago. The only gain is if the OZ dollar drops against US or Rp & you are paying for services that a listed in US dollars. If just changing to Rp for spending, there is no gain.
On todays XE rate;
AU100 = RP846 257
AU100 = US87.40
US87.40 = Rp846 039

So you actually lose Rp218. This is not taking into account any fees or lower exchange rates in buying US$ in OZ.
Most often Rp gains or loses against both currencies the same.
So last month when the AU$ was worth .8165US it was buying 8145Rp.

If you bought US dollars then(again no fees);
AU100 = US81.65 in AUG
AU100 = Rp814 500 in Aug
Your US81.65 today would get Rp790 379
Your AU100 today = Rp846 257
So you lose out on Rp55 878
