Cheap yes. Yours is the only comment I have read anywhere saying the food is "great". "Airline food" & "great" is an oxymoron, especially when in the same sentence as Air Asia. The chicken rice seems by & large to be acceptable but great??? The concensus in the archives here is no.
Bit much to put someone down for wanting to self-cater on an AA flight, especially if there are special diet requirements.
