My daughter, husband and young child (18 months) stayed at the d'Omah for a week two weeks ago while we were there across the road at Gerebig Bungalows. They had the Chili room and loved it. Good size room with a/c and large bathroom with huge bath which is open onto a courtyard also accessible from the bedroom. The verandah is also large with a bar, sink and fridge. There was a swimming pool only metres away but the privacy of the verandah and room was preserved by the garden and vegetation. The inhouse restaurant is very good, the hotel manager. Mendez, being a highly trained chef. He also has a restaurant just down the road towards Ubud called Warung Mendez that serves the best goat soups which are more than soup, more like a meal. The food prices at Warung Mendez are very good. Their lumpia is steamed rather than fried and is my favourite in Ubud. The Javanese spiced charcoal grilled chicken at 18,000rp is also fantastic.
I love that part of Ubud. Penestanan is a lovely quiet area with some very good warungs such as Sari Bamboo, Made's Warung and Lala Lili Cafe to name but a few. I have been back now for 1 week after 2 weeks in Penestanan and can hardly wait for my next 2 weeks there in late November.
Enjoy!
