I have generally never ordered mie goreng (fried noodles) before my last visit recently. I am now a mie goreng fan, having now tried it at most warungs in the area and Sari Bamboo comes out on the top of the heap! Their lumpia is also great but ask for it to not be cooked too much and it will come out with the wrap soft and absolutely delicious. Mie goreng is 17,000rp and it is a huge serve. There chicken curry is also great.

Made's Warung and Lala Lili Cafe are on the track through the rice fields at the top of the steps across the road from Tjampuhan - get to the top of the steps and keep going about 100 or 200 metres. If you turn left at the top of the steps and follow the track it brings you out at the road that d'Omah is on about 50 metres from it, just next to Gerebig. Turning right at the top of the steps takes you along a beautiful walk and to the back of Bintang supermarket.
There is a water problem in parts of Penestanan now which started back in January during the floods when the irrigation channels out the back of Bintang supermarket were washed away so from that spot and all the way back to d'Omah and further there is no irrigation water. The effect is that the ricefield have been turned over to growing peanuts, kangkung, sweetcorn etc. as a temporary measure until it is all repaired which is happening now and should be completed soon. These crops are usually grown on a rotational basis as good farming practice but it is not so pretty when they are all doing it! The other thing I miss is the flowing water along the walking tracks. I hope it is all back to normal in November!
