It is such a poor area that is going to have a real impact on several families. Sad too for tourists who have booked or intended to book soon. It is a very special place, Amed and Lipah Beach area.

Thinking of the tourists who have lost bookings I am going to do something I don't usually do - because it is our hidden treasure of a place - and in a way I don't want it to become so popular we can't get a booking there. Just along the road, in the Lipah Beach area, there is a row of little bungalows that step down the hillside to the sea, called Wawa Wewe II Bungalows.
At the bottom there is a little pool, with infinity pool edge. The restaurant is open air and fabulous view. We love the food there. We love the peace. I step right out into the water to snorkel. It is nothing flash, probably about 2-star to 3-star depending on what matters to you, but the staff are wonderful. At night after dinner the restaurant usually shuts down and almost everyone goes a mile or two further up the road to the bar at Wawa Wewe I. Sometimes the band is good, but sometimes it is young guys just starting out, and you still get into the spirit of giving them encouragement as they get the hang of entertaining - because you just get into that kind of mood. We usually pay the hotel guys a 'rupiah notes' tip to pillion us along to the bar and back on their motorbikes - great fun!

To contact them just email wawawewevillas at the yahoo place (they sometimes take a day or two to answer - and it is not always in great english - but that is Bali) and do please say Carol and Bruce recommended them.
For pix of the place there are some pix on my 2005 album on Webshots, and that is KiwiCarol2005's albums.
