Besakih and Kuta Lagoon are both relatively level with a few stairs here and there and they are both in a great position for wandering around and shopping, both are middle of the road kind of places with basic breakfast and a nice relaxed vibe and friendly staff, both have upstairs and down stairs accommodation.
Obviously they are in different areas but the main difference to me is position and the pools.
I love Sanur always spend some time here and I've stayed a week at Besakih with 2 kids, had a great time.
Besakih is absolute beach front with that beautiful infinity pool that you can swim in while you watch the world go by, the restaurant is also beach front which is nice at breakfast time, lush gardens and beautiful beach path to stroll along. Sanur is much calmer than Kuta so I feel fine letting older children wander within sight without been glued to me.
I don't like Kuta when I'm travelling with kids, I haven't stayed at Kuta Lagoon myself but I have family that love it and I have been there and had a look at rooms etc.
Kuta Lagoon is tucked away down a driveway so although you are in the middle of everything you are hidden away behind those big walls. My family always stay in a pool access room and love that they can slip into the pool from their veranda. To be honest I mostly remember cement and a long winding pool, mum and sisters love it here as they walk out and start shopping!
I think it depends on the age of the girls? and what you want to do;
Older girls that want mostly shopping and a full on in your face commercial Bali? then go for Kuta.
Younger girls that will muck around in the sand and maybe try snorkeling, relaxed strolling along the beach, shop sometimes then lay around the pool? definitely Sanur.
My family are over there now and have just stayed at both Kuta Lagoon and Besakih, they get back on Monday so I will interested in their view.
Haven't stayed at or seen Sanur Paradise Plaza I think it's on the busy bypass road? but I could have the wrong place.
