We attended a timeshare presentation at The Peninsula a few years ago. I can well understand how your friend was intimidated to the extent that she signed the contract. We started off with a very pleasant young German guy but when it got to the money & signing we were passed on to a large florid-faced bull dog of a Scotsman whose body language alone was most intimidating & aggressive. Scary. Not to mention his belittling spiel.

Anyway, hubby spat the dummy BIG time but we still got 2 free weeks for only US$50 each which we used (happily, at Candi Dasa & Jimbaran Hills where things were very low key - no pressure in fact no presentation at C D.

I feel sorry for her. Timeshare places are not interested in me alone as I don't work.

I wish her well. But there are plenty of people who are very happy with their timeshare places. If I was going into that sort of thing I'd buy a membership in Asia Vacations which is a lot cheaper, less restrictive with unlimited weeks & you get the simple contract to look over before you sign.
