Keeping cash safe is a "Brainer".
Most people believe that putting your valuables in a hotel room safe is secure storage. Wrong! There is an override on most digital safes either in the form of a key or a PIN which the hotel will use if the battery goes flat or if the guest forgets their PIN or if the guest locks the safe on departure.
As reported on this forum in recent months there appeared to be an inside job when a guest had several thousand dollars stolen from their room safe at an un-named hotel. This is not an isolated case as it has happened before and it will happen again. At best a room safe is a case of risk minimisation. Another alternative is safe deposit boxes usually in hotel lobbies which require two keys one of which is retained by the guest. Whatever method of financial transaction or storage you use needs to be weighed up against cost, convenience and security. That is why different people employ didderent methods.
