But less expensive than, say Australia.
Most of the stuff in Aus. is 9 carat only, so very low grade.
You need to be aware that generally speaking, the gold shops in Kuta / Denpasar do not have low grade gold like this, and start at around 70% pure (as marked on the price tags), which is somewhere around 16 carat.
Typical grades are 70%, 75% and 80%.
Pieces are marked in grams, so provided you get a biz card from the shop, with weight, purity and price on, you can make comparisons.
If you don't do this, you will become confused, and may not even find the shop again, as there are about 20+ all much the same!!
The styles can be a little "old fashioned", or oriental in character, it just depends what you are looking for.
An exception is Mayang Jewellers next to Matahari, which is more "European", and actually does have some 9 carat imported Italian stuff.
It may help if you get a "goldmart" catalogue or similar from Aus, and use the pics to describe what you are looking for.
