I have my prescription from Australia but shop around for best deal in Bali, I usually go to Discovery Mall as Optik Seis, Optik Melawai and Optik Tunggul are all there and easy to compare. I have had my eyes tested for glasses at Optik Tunggul and happy with their service.
Ted is correct about the monthly extended wear lenses, you cannot get them in Bali, all the lenses in Bali must be taken out at night to sleep. Daily lenses are thrown out after one day, monthly lenses taken out eat night but can be used for a month then thrown away (this is the cheapest option generally). Like Ted, I have also been given incorrect information in the past (not from the stores mentioned about), so be aware of that.
My advice to you would be to get fitted in Australia with a trial pair of lenses, this should be either free or very cheap (opticians often keep the fitting cheap as they figure you will be back to buy lenses - mine does not charge me for fitting). I would phone around different opticians and ask what they charge. Then take your prescription and lens box to Bali and price the lenses there. I really do suggest you get your initial consultation and fitting in Australia first, it is not time consuming and should not be too expensive. It does take a while to get used to putting in and taking out lenses. You are mucking about with the surface of your eye, if you scratch/damage it, it can ulcerate with awful pain and long term consequences.
If you really want to be fitted for contact lenses in Bali then I would suggest you go to one of the reputable optik stores and try the daily lenses, that way you are throwing them out after one day and you won't be out of pocket for more than the price of a box of lenses if they are not good for you. I prefer to use daily lenses in Bali as they are more comfortable with the humidity and street dust etc.
