As Chairman of North Sulawesi Tourism, I was a guest of Air Asia as part of the Governor's Party on the inaugural Manado/Kuala Lumpur flight on 12th September 2008.

Love Air Asia and the overall service, but Tony Fernandez knows how to make a dollar (did get snacks, soft drinks and Teh Tarik in the Air Asia Head Office on arrival in KUL) but we all had to buy our own drinks and food on flights over and back.

Having said that, I would choose Air Asia over other low-cost carriers any day - new aircraft, friendly crew and well-priced quality and interesting food menu. Having flown Air Asia Indonesia and Air Asia Malaysia, when flying Jakarta/Kuala Lumpur route I always make sure I book a flight operated by the Malaysian Division which to me offers a more professional approach than its Indonesian counterpart as both divisions serve this route.
