I am an American woman living in Sayulita, Mexico. I'm headed to Bali (alone) on the 1st of August so I've been reading the forum religiously. It seems that 99% of the postings are either from people from Australia or New Zealand. Are there no Americans in Bali? I love the different slang you use and look forward to meeting up with many of you. Seems you all like to party as much as I do! Glad that talk of the liquor shortage seems to have subsided too. Curious as to some of the abbrevations like EOM and JBR. No clue what they mean.
What also puzzles me is that no one seems to talk about staying at private cottages in a more authentic Bali environment. All the questions and comments seem to be about Hotels. I can't afford Hotels for 2 months.
Hoping the weather is better than we have on the coast of Mexico. It's god awful wicked here during September and August. From what I've gathered it's a bit tamer there during this time. Please tell me it's true!!! LOL
I've booked a room for 2 nights at the Sativa Sanur Cottages and then a week in Penestanan at a Guesthouse owned by an Aussie. After that I'm just going to fly by the seat of my pants.
Is it feasible in 2 months that I can see most of the island and and Gilli T? I'll be making a Visa run as well. Is a flight to Thailand very expensive from Bali? Any comments or suggestions?
