I've tried many hotels in Bali. Some which I used to frequent all the time have gone down hill since, so you can never trust an old review.
I'd suggest The Bali Prani to you. 350,000Rp will get you a nice quiet villa with new but traditional setting. It has just been bought by the Harris hotel Tuban, which is next door. You get to use there fascillities too ( free internet ). The big drawcard though is it's distinct lack of yobbos. Cable TV, A/C, 10 min walk to the beach, 2 mins from the airport by taxi. Frindly staff and neighbours.....
