I have paid for accomodation recently at Tegal Sari in Ubud. I always advise the hotel that I will be sending two seperate emails, the first email with say the first 6 numbers, and another email with the last 6 numbers. Example 123456xxxxxx and then xxxxxx450987.
That way if an email happens to be intercepted, they would only have half your numbers. The chance of BOTH emails being intercepted is highly unlikely.You could send the emails on seperate days if you like as well. The hotels I have dealt with have always understood this and I have had no problems with fraud on my credit card from this.
