There are lots of free wi fi places/restaurants in Bali. You just turn on your laptop and go down to the bottom right, look for the double display screens icon and 'search or connect to a network'. You may need to be given a password or if its an unsecured connection, not required.
If you go to an internet cafe they may offer you a physical connection, then you are ready to connect.
If in doubt, just ask, they are very helpful.
