10 Days from 1-10 June, Me and my b/f, both of our first time to Bali, my first time over seas.
Flight - Flew Garuda, only complaints was that the same movie was shown on the way there and back. No delays and was through the Bali airport very quickly.
Hotel - Casa Padma Suites. Room was nice, clean, spacious and comfortable. Good place to come back to after a day activity and the pool was good for cooling off.
Shopping - I'm not really into shopping at the best of times, the bargaining part just made it worse. Tried it a few times and don't think we did too badly however once we had a few things we needed we didn't do any more. Got most of our souveniers at Geneva which was much better! We didn't think about what we were buying though and all but one of the lovely photo albums, notebooks etc that I found there got confiscated on our return because they contained banana leaf :(
Eating - Mostly ate around the area we stayed. Worst meal we had was Jimbaran (sp?) Bay, also the most expensive meal we had. Not worth it at all. The best meal was dinner at Drops where we were staying (we also had lunch there that wasn't nearly so good and breakfast was sufficient but nothing brilliant).
White Water Rafting - went with Bali International Rafting, was good fun. Started raining towards the end which was also fun. Don't think the rapids were class 3 and 4 like they said in the brochure though, very tame. Was quite hard to find a tourist booth that knew them, eventually found one that told us to come back tomorrow and they would get the info for us.
Waterbom - a lot of fun however all those stairs are killers, need to be more fit.
Cycling tour - Went with Bali Eco, was a very good experience, nice ride, interesting to stop at some of the compounds and rice fields etc. We got to the end of the downhill bit and was asked by Ketut our guide if we wanted to do the optional uphill 10km, I foolishly convinced the b/f that we should. I was nearly dead after about three kms, b/f got to the end but only just. Again, fitness level probably not quite what it should be!
Bali Treetop Adventures - Loved This!, Didn't make it all the way through though, stopped after the tarzan rope on the hardest circuit. Was just to tired after the course before it. The hardest would be a challenge if you were fresh, after the others there was no way i was going to make it through. B/f gave up at the same point, though he managed to grab the net at least, I was left swinging on the rope and had to be helped down!
Angseri Hot Springs - went here before tree top, looked nice however we were ushered straight to a private hut and given the impression we should stay there. We wanted to go down to the public area because it had the hot pool, plus the cool one with the waterfall. As it was just sitting in the hot pool in the private hut wasn't very interesting. We probably should have just gone down to the public pool but we really were given the impression that it was a locals only area. Wasn't really worth the drive in the end.
Safari & Marine park - good fun, great to cool off afterwards in their pool. Enclosures all looked up to standard by what I've seen in Australia which is good.
Went to a few other places like Uluwatu, Nusa Dua (did some water sports), a few stops at villages on the way to and from places. Enjoyed it all! Not really into the night life, was always too tired after a day of doing lots so just stayed in the hotel watching movies in the evening.
I've probably missed quite a bit but I think that's long enough. Thanks to everybody on the forum for all the information I got before I went.
