Prelude:
She likes white wine but understandably resents paying north of half a million for a mediocre white of dubious provenance. So she goes the Margarita.
Chapter one:
JQ37 gets in a little late; we check in to Puri Ayu and hit the Trophy at 11:30 pm. The Cat & Fiddle & everything else in the area is shut. S'nur for sure - but we like it. The Margarita is surprisingly good (7/10) and more remarkably Rp37,500. The bintang is pretty cold -and we're HOME (away from). The next night, however, it's a bit light on the tequila - and a bare 6. Still fair value.
On to Ubud. The laughing Buddha had the last laugh - Rp65,000, not enough lime, too little triple sec (I'm a Cointreau man myself but she makes allowances) and way too little tequila. Maybe a 5. The Barman at Baby Face declared his honesty by admitting the tequila was only dregs and we wouldn't want to be acquainted; so she allowed a mojito (Rp60,000). This time we sat at the bar to make sure (Oh Oh) the nips weren't getting smaller. They weren't so I'm fairly sure both the Bacardi AND the Meyers were watered. The Bintang (I had by now despaired of spirits) was draft & soapy. We moved on (with complete and unwonted sobriety) to Barberkyu. Here the Margarita (Rp50,000) was modest in size but fairly tasty - 6.5 - and the bottled Bintang baik. We quit while we were behind. The search continues.
