There are also some price comparisons that can be made. Cars are more expensive here and wages and gas and repairs are lower.

But work it out on the value of the car, gas, depreciation and wages and 350.000 a day should be the rate for a clapped out bemo not a newish airconned car.

There isn't any set rates to protect drivers in Bali like in Australia where taxis are so overprotected, so it's up to the tourists not to screw the drivers to the wall.

Most don't but many do.

I often wonder what those same people would think if their boss bargained their wages down by 25% when they get home from doing the same thing in Bali.

But of course they are protected by law against people like themselves in Australia arn't they.
