Global roaming is when you are using your Australian sim
Both credit AND the sim from Bali will expire.

If the sim hasn't been used for a while, it may have been deactivated. If it has, sims are very cheap in Bali - you can get a sim with credit and the sim is virtually free. The sim determines the phone number - so if you get another sim you will have a different phone number.

You should do this:
1. make sure that your phone is not locked to your australian network. You can check this by putting someone else's sim from another network into your phone here in Australia. If it works, it is not locked.
2. When you get to Bali get some credit put onto the sim (shops are everywhere). Make sure that it is working before you leave the shop in case your sim has expired.
3. Once you have some credit, you can call or text anywhere in the world.
