The word "Mum" also defines the relationship. It was only after one of the Anak Pantai told a little story that I thought of this.

We'll call him Budi and he has worked for years on the beach at Legian and has a lot of overses friends from around the world. (He doesn't, at least not that I've heard call them Mum or Dad).

Anyway one particular family used to shout him lunch at KP where they stay and he had alawys enjoyed it. Until that is, the woman came on her own and naturally asked him to lunch as usual. He sat through lunch in acute discomfort and couldn't really enjoy his food because and I quote "Oh God I hope everyone doesn't think I'm a f****** Kuta Cowboy".

Of course now it's in my head it won't go away and if I was now to sit down on my own with a lone Anak Pantai I must admit I too would be thinking "Oh my God I hope they don't think he's a f******Kuta Cowboy".
