The simultaneous existence of opposite or contrary feelings about the same person or thing aptly describes my love affair with Bali. I love so much about Bali and will continue to go as often as possible, but... there are also things that I really hate about it at the same time. I love and adore the people, seeing my "Bali" families, culture, scenary, relaxing, being warm, food, comradeship with other guests/visitors, shopping, swimming, massages, day trips, meticulously kept gardens, flowers, smells of hundreds of frangipani's, ceremonies, dancing, walking in the rain, etc. The things I hate are, emaciated dogs and cats, the stench of rotting decaying rubbish, beggers both young and old, rats, corruption, street kids out at midnight, climbing loads of steps, the smell of thousands of motorbikes, etc. Bali is a tranquil, scenic and beautiful place but it is also a filthy stinking place. You will either love Bali or hate Bali and only you can find out what it will be. We have just come back from 5 and a half weeks in Legian, and 4 nights in Pacung and we are now counting down the days til we go back again in 10 months.
