I dont think malaria tablets are something that you should be getting advice about here.
I lived in Papua New Guinea for 3 years. We had to take Malaria tablets the whole time we were there, We had to start the course before we went, and we had regular checkups with the Australian Defence Force doctors to make sure that we were getting the right dosage and the side effects were not so bad, we had to change medications a few times.
When we got back to Australia we couldnt just stop taking the tablets, we had to come off the tablets gradually with smaller and smaller doses for a few months.
Things may have changes sinse then but i would see a doctor to make sure, before you go.
