We had a couple of pairs of motorbike pants made last year in bali. We took photos of a pair that we liked from a magazine. The pants were more a sports bike style, which had coloured leather, stretchy panels in the knees and waist, and padding in the knees.

The coloured leather over in bali is all lambs leather, which is lovely good quality soft leather, which is great for a fashion jacket or handbag, but not really suitable for motorbike protection.

The Cows leather which is much tougher than lambs leather and also very good quality only comes in black or brown. So we had to modify the design of the pants a bit, which was easy to do with the very understanding tailor's helper who we dealt with.

We made the pants mainly Black, but added the colour by using the lambs leather as piping, and adding coloured panels of leather, in places such as between the legs, at the bottom of the legs where the pants cover the boots, and around the top of the pants, like a waist band, which dont need to be the toughest protective leather. They decided themselves to put a double layer of the lambs leather in these panels anyway.

We were amazed at the outcome, they look amazing and they are the most comfortable leather pants that we have ever worn. They cost us about $100 each pair. They were finished in a day and a half.

The tailor was French leather, who has a shop in Garlic Lane. His assistant at the time worked out of a different shop, where they just measured you up and sent the designs to French Leather. The assistants name was Chock, and he is one of the nicest people that we have met in bali. He no longer works for French leather, but says he is still able to organise leather work if needed.

I have left my email address open if you would like to contact me to get Chocks phone number. He says he is into the tour guide buisness now, but says he can organise anything. He speaks great english and has no problem coming to you.
