Beliefs and customs surrounding cremations/funerals are enormously complex and can vary quite a bit from one region to the other. For a good, general survey about practices in the Bukit area, you can begin by buying a copy of Fred Eisemans 2-volume book "Sekala and Niskala". This will start you off. There are many other publications, but these are generally written with specialists in mind. And, of course, there is quite a bit written in Bahasa Indonesia. But be warned; you are entering a genuine labyrinth here. Good luck.
