Hey.. thanks everone for the lovely comments.. Iam truely truelly lucky to live here, but not only to live here to be able to experience this wonderful culture, although some times it takes a hardy soul... my first babi guling is some thing not easily forgotten. not knowing what to expect is always an advantage i feel, especially when great wodges of dead pig are involved.. dead pig and dead pig innards.. not an especially squeemish type but this was a test... after many hours of killing cleaning roasting... grating grinding smashing the grande finalle... and possibly the highlight... lawar.. chilli chilli more chilli and a suspicious blood filled bucket... mixing blood with chillis and god knows what. I am offered first taste .. like i know what this is supposed to taste like!.. what seemed like a hundred pairs of eyes looking at me expectantly.. i had no choice figuring to refuse was to offend .. i dipped my fingers in to brown stick chilli mash and tasted .. OH its was delicious.. never more suprised that i did'nt drop to the floor gasping from any number of reasons i really enjoyed it.. and have since learned that it don't always look great but it always tastes great... can now eat chillis like lollies which may come in useful some how.. just not sure how......
