My first trip was with my family in 1987. Our latest was September just gone. I know what you mean about sewerage, rubbish and the colorful language. Never thought I'd say this but this time around I actually missed the open gutters etc. Seemed all too westernised! I know that this is inevitable but I don't know that I'm quite ready for it!!!
You're right though the endless smiles and beautiful people were in endless supply. We stayed in Rum Jungle Rd and were very surprised by the "lack" of interest shown to us by a lot of store holders(didn't appear to want to Barter & let you walk out if you didn't want to pay their first up price)and beach hawkers alike. But we still LOVE BALI!
