I love Bali , about to go for our 10th trip, the first time was in 1976 so things have changed a lot. To be honest there were many times I could have got on the plane and headed for home.
The day a fan huge fan fell in the middle of our table , sending shattered glass everywhere, inches from my head - can't imagine how ugly that could have been.
The day a beach seller cursed me for not buying and said she hoped my baby died - really lovely :(
The day our family of 5 watched as they dragged the body of an Ozzie who had drowned on his honeymoon out of the surf at that notoriously bad rip at the front of the Jayakarta - very sobering indeed.
Being told to f*** off by a 5 year old child !
I have been totally repulsed by sewerage seeping out of drains in restaurants, filthy littered beaches and water....I could go on. I don't ever have my rose coloured glasses on in Bali. Why do we keep going back ??? because it is highly addictive :0 and ...

That fantastic food - yep that is why I will always have a special place in my heart for Bali - warts and all
