I posted too soon.
The gemologist made a mistake - the stone Audrey gave me, via Moira, is the same as the small stone substituted in my ring. (The valuer compared it with the latter rather than the prior valuation). Thought it was too good to be true. Thought the stone looked smaller.
So now I have 2 small stones I don't want with a combined value of less than the stone taken from me. Here I go again.
