You could firstly contact one of the drivers recommended on this forum.
Get him to take you to Candidasa to a car rental place.
Arrange for him to collect you from there when you come back from the east coast travels.
Drive yourself up the east coast, through Amlapura to Amed.
Travel about to suit yourselves, and return the rental to Candidasa to be collected by your driver.
The reasoning is that driving around the south is confusing, and may be intimidating if you are not used to it.
Driving around Amed is easy, and relaxing.
I'm sure others will have their ideas, but this is just one way.
I would think that a driver to Candidasa is going to be around 3 - 400K
