Returned from Bali on Saturday morning, after a good time had by all.
Getting there:
Flew from adelaide through singapore (with singapore airlines. Fantastic service the whole way. I cant fault this airline, had a 1hr wait between flights, arrived in Bali at about 2130. VOA and immigration was fairly quick, then it was only a short trip to the Patra Bali. All were very tired so off to bed!
Did the usual first day stuff - changed money, grapped drinks etc at the supermarket, spent longer in Kuta than intended! Headed back to the Patra for a swim. Got to the pool and the beach hawkers were all calling out. Funnily a couple of them had remembered us from our last stay 2 years ago!
We spent a few days relaxing a few days shopping and also did the following:
Geneva:
never been here before but after reading about it on the forum payed a visit. plenty too choose from , picked up a number of gifts and things for home. Good priced temple umbrella's and many other bits and pieces
Safari Park: loved it, 8 year old daughter wants a live orangutang or tiger for a pet! Spent nearly 7hrs here looking, watching the shows, daughter cooled off in the water park. A great place
Dolphin Lodge: another great expirience. In the water (in the ocean) with the dolphins. Played, fed and cuddled. Including transfers the total cost for 2 adults and 1 child was $195.00 (AUD) definately worth it. The trainers were very gentle with the dolphins, many of whom had been injured in some way by fishing nets etc. Staff go out with you and use your camera to take pic's. The man who took ours took about 80 pic's of us and our girl with these beautiful animals. I would highly recommend this to anyone who wants to get up close and play with dolphins.
Waterbom park: funday, finally after 3 trips to Bali got the 8 year old on the 'big slides' although was very quickly sorry! Spend the day running up the stairs with her! absolutely exhausted. The boomerang has re-opened, although i couldn't get the daughter on this one it looks quite good.
I went armed with Don's Bali virgins guide- although we had been before. Thanks for this, it's great not only for 1st timers. It helps those who don't get there too frequently to keep up with what's what.
Flew home with Singapore, unfortunaltely couldn't get the late plane from Denpasar and spent 7 hrs in Singapore airport, but time passed very quickly - there is so much to do in that airport!
Good flight home, arrived in adelaide to a balmy 7 degrees!
All in all a brilliant time had by us all.
