Stormy, Indojet staff/management are very approachable and I wouldn't be suprised if you could get free allowance.
I had reservations earlier in the year and was put through to someone who I presume was very high up who chatted on for ages about safety issues, engineers, statistics etc etc. They used to allow 10kg free for sporting goods but lowered that allowance due to "abuse" of the system.
I would certainly call them before making your final decision 0863803377. Also, not sure of your costing with Garuda or when you are flying but their superior econ is very reasonable.
