As stated, this is your first trip to Bali. While the 5 star hotels at Nusa Dua are everything they are do you want to experience ALL Bali has to offer without travelling a great distance to get to it? Then Nusa Dua is not really the place to stay. As soon as there is mention of 4 & 5 star hotels certain people start talking about Nusa Dua. My suggestion to you would be to look at places like the Bali Mandira, Sofitel Seminyak, Hotel Padma Bali and the Bali Niksoma just to mention a few. These properties are close to everything that the first time traveller to Bali would need. Taxi's are NOT expensive in Bali and think of it this way. What you save in taxis going backwards and forwards to Nusa Dua you can spend on enjoying your first holiday to the Island of the Gods
