We are a family of 5 and have flown to Bali twice now in July school holidays from Perth - Denpasar (definitely peak period).
The only way to do it easily, and with a choice of flights, is to book 11 months and 3 weeks in advance - in other words, as soon as the flights are released. It does require a bit of forward planning, but is so worth it. We have found FF seats are released on almost every flight when you do it this way. If we had tried to book only 6 months in advance we would have had no chance - except maybe in the off months.
Just recently returned from Perth - HongKong - Ho Chi Minh - Perth, all on QFF (some Oneworld flights) over the New Year period/Jan School holidays, all booked 11 months in advance. A month after we booked there were no FF left for any of these flights.
