If you are looking for people to convince you to go; you shouldn't be going - doesn't sound like you are ready to trust the place.
People will say this or that about DFAT warnings and compare Bali (Indonesia) safety to London or the US. But it isn't the same.
Airport security is one thing (and it is very good) - but Bali is set in a series of Islands and its shores are not controlled.
Don't go because people convinced you that security was this or that.... Go because you want to; and you "believe" you will be safe.
