We just returned from a great Bali adventure this am and I am yet to do my JBR. We travelled with 3 of our kids 14,11 and 7. The 7 yr old has just learned to ride.
We booked our bike tour with Bali Baik and it was fantastic. My husband said it was the best thing he has ever done on holidays - and that is something!
We got picked up from our hotel and driven to Ubud to pick up our guide. Then off for a tour of the coffee plantation where we got to see coffee growing and getting roasted etc. You could sample Bali coffee, ginger tea, hot chocolate and even smoke fresh tobacco if thats your thing!Plus there was yummy tropical fruits to try too. After this we were taken to a resturant for breakfast overlooking the volcano. Spectaular scenery as we ate - fairly simple breakfast- fresh orange juice, frien noodles, scrambled eggs, chicken, toast, frest fruit and mire coffee.
Then off to the start point to get our bikes and helmets and we were off. There was our family of 5 plus another family of 5 from Canada and a young single guy from Europe. I think 3 guides rode with us - one in the lead, one middle and one up the back with me helping to ensure my 7yr old was ok.. We road through quiet villages at a relaxed pace -stunning views of rice paddies and village life. Stopped several times to learn about rice production, village life etc. Water was on hand whenever needed and we had fresh fruit too.
It was an easy ride with just a couple of little hills towards the end (and I am not the fittest person around!). You spend most of the ride coasting and enjoying the scenery and tranquility. The bikes were well maintained and good to ride too.
After the ride we had a short ride to Wayan's family home where we were treated to a Balinese feast prepared by his wife. Very delicious! The kids kept going up for more. Then we were dropped back to our hotel. A fantastic day out and would recommend it to anyone. Well organised, very safe and good value for 350k all inclusive.
Go for it!
