Garlic allergies???

Hi, I have a friend travelling with us to Bali in October and have just found out she has a severe garlic allergy. I was wondering if anyone elso has come across this problem and if all was well when eating in Bali? I suppose she will have to eat plain types of food but was worried about contamination in the preparation area.
