This thing of putting all that food in front to taste is a pure Tourist ripp off to make Newbies think they have to Pay for all of it.
The right way in a padang is to go to the front and pick what you want on your plate.
I know many Cheap littlt places where the food is awsome and clean and not cooked for Western Tastebuds lie in Jalan 66. How many People have I met in Bali who have got sick from the Food at 4 and 5 Star Hotels. Bali Belly is a Lottery and I and many friends take drinks with Ice for years and have not got sick. Just look at the kitchens in some 5 Star Hotels and you'll never believe what you see. I've seen them a MBR and other Places picking food off the floor and putting it into Plates.
