Posted by Aly on Sunday, 15. July 2007 at 07:41 Bali Time:

Yeah, sorry guys. I guess I'm a bit slack since I've been back.

Us: Me (most important) Hubby, eldest 17 (never been) and youngest 14 (been last year and loved it)

Ex Melbourne Jetstar & to Bali Jetstar 14 nights Late May til mid June.
Left home with 2 suitcases inside 2 suitcases. Our stuff in 1, donation stuff in the other. Came home with 4 + bag + painting, still way under weight.

Jetstar:
Look guys, I just couldn't fault Jetstar.
I know everyone loves to run them down but there nothing to fault in 4 flights.
Also considering the Bali flights were only $2 may have swayed me a little. Even when leaving Bali, flight was delayed over an hour, pilot made it up with tail winds and we did the homebound trip in just 4 3/4 hours! Pretty good. Love the new seating thing where you pick your seats. Only thing I heard on the plane was a noisy, loud, complaining woman just would not shut up about not receiving her meal. Attendant very nice but firm. Sorry not on the list. She shouted on and on and on. 'This has happened to me before da da da' You'll love the nest bit: When the attendant left, she went 2 seats up and asked her daughter if she had booked meals ?! One would like to think one could check the facts before complaining ??
Attendants very good with lady with 1 little kid + baby. Food OK. Salad boring - lettuce stuffed into little container, 4 shreds of carrot and 1 baby cherry tomato.
DVD thingy OK. Its just the problem of trying to juggle it when the meal arrives. We hooked ours to the headrest in front of us but were told to move them. Fell asleep on the way home and woke up with DVD thing gone, meal all cleaned up, dribble down side of face! Those wrap around head rest wings really make a difference. One can now sleep without the crook neck.

Security:
When leaving Bali, we were x rayed (?), bags checked for explosives, + frisked. I reckon we went thru about 8 searches in all.
Good.

ER Tours
As I have a modest, sensible (boring) 17 yo I thought what better way to arrive than to jump aboard a throbbing Harley and hoon thru the empty streets? ER Tours to the rescue! 4 Harleys, AU$55 each. Maybe a bit dear but well worth it for the experience. PS Also includes insurance and helmets etc. Luggage follows in van. 17yo made it alive, thighs still vibrating an hour later from hanging on for dear life. Hey, isn't it my job to give her an education? 14yo & I loved it. Dad was, whatever. I think Maharta certainly heard us arriving as it was now 1am in the morning!

Maharta
Yes, theres not much info around on this place so I'll try and fill in the gaps. Down the lane to Niksoma, behind Coconuts Hotel @ Rickys. 5 nights here.
We booked 2 standard rooms and I asked for US$34 a night incl brekky. They wanted 50% deposit, sent TT.
We loved this place. The standard rooms are away from the beach with pool between standard & deluxe rooms. Standard rooms centre around their own garden which is not a through fare. (quiet & private) 2 storeys and the rooms are divided by the stairs. This means no noise transfer between the rooms.
4 poster king size bed. The girls had a strip of wood down the centre between the mattresses. OK A/C, Telly, with HBO. What a bonus for those of us who like to watch a bit of telly. No kettle, but, 2 x cups & saucers so if you want to buy a kettle, you are all set up. Fridge. Big bathroom. Bath. Balcony. We had the 2 side by side top floor rooms which meant we had own little double balcony and the girls were free to trot over to our room in their daks if they wanted to.
Rooms clean. Spare power points, Reading lamp on one side only. Soft sheets. (bit grey)
Straight down to the pool for our welcome drink. Love this pool and drooled over pictures of it on the net for 12 months. It delivered. It too, is private and good depth for mucking around etc. Just a few sun lounges and always 1 or 2 spare. Lovely gardens, designed for privacy. We slept well at Maharta. Comfy beds, no noise.
The deluxe rooms are also 2 storey and are in a long row to your left on the walk to the beach or the restaurant. As such, there is no privacy on the balconies or when the door is open. I'm struggling to see how they are sea view? Maybe if you stood on the balcony? All in all, if I went back, I would still book the standard room. IMHO they are better.
Brekky: usual Coffee, tea, juice, toast, eggs etc. Yoghurt (pink) fruit. The best bit was the croissants (sp) and danishes etc. YUM. I just layed under the table and let them all drop in my mouth til I couldn't get up. They do lunch and tea but we didn't get that far. Restaurant is right on the beach. Safe is at reception, no probs there. Staff lovely. Reception helpful and sincere.
For a 3 *** joint I think this place is tops and I highly recommend if you are looking for the mid range area.
17 yo couldn't believe we were putting bathers on at 1 in the morning and swimming across a pool to get alcohol.....maybe she saw her mum and dad in a whole new light??
This joint is Austrian owned I think and a lot of Europeans there. Met some lovely people and chatted each day at brekky. I now have a new opinion of them and won't lump them all into the same basket in future.

Bali Baik
DO IT. If I can manage, then you can.
Only conked out about 1/2 km before the end and there was no shame involved. Plus got cold towel.
Long way to brekky. Do some fruit and coffee before you go. Brekky only average, don't set your heart on it. Magnificent views, terrific staff.
Tour of plantation, plants etc plus hot drink and fag at the end. Their own vanilla tobacco, which is rolled for you if you like! We'd done this before but 17 yo hadn't so all good.
The bikes. Well, I was packing it. You could probably smell me back home that day. It took me a while to learn that I could leave the brakes on as long as I liked (unlike car brakes) because I was positive I was going to fall off going down hill. Probably one of those pot holes had my name on it. Lots of stops. Went into a rice paddy and borrowed the skythe off the chap and gave it a go. Decided I would not make a living cutting rice. Oh well. Never did get the hang of the gears. Only a few little hills, but ended up walking up them because I couldn't work out those gears. Hubby did help. He's an old bikie from way back, but not good at explaining things. Truck just cruised along in the background. No pressure at all. The bikes themselves are near new and in excellent condition.
This is not a rushed trip and loads of info everywhere we stopped. I must say the highlight for me was riding thru the villages around the chickens, dogs, and drying rice to be greeted by the little kids with their 'hellooooooos' and high fives. Wouldn't swap that for anything.
coming up to lunch:
If anything, my fanny was relieved. I had been doing the ride on this side, ride on that side thing! (Girls you know what I mean) by then, so the trip is just about the right length for non bike riding women.
Lunch:
Now this was serious business. Sooo much choice. Does one be polite and do a plateful or does one go back again (and again) to try everything and hog more of ones favourites? What to do?
I think there were about 13 plates on offer. Some I knew, some I didn't. Talk about welcoming and delicious. This was a day trip on its own. If you eat as much as I did, you'll probably sleep all the way home. Wayan & Made are warm and generous hosts and I recommend this trip. It really is special being invited into someones home.
Please fell free to ask if you have any special requests.

White Water Rafting
Oh those bloody steps. They didn't seem as long this time. Maybe I am fitter than last year (in your dreams girl) or maybe because I knew how many there were so I was not as surprised.
Anyway, booked the Telaga Waja River one at the tour guide outside Merrys Collection opp Rickys. Same price as last year rp (can't find receipt)
Pick up, rafting, lunch, free step walk and return home.
As fabulous and fun as last year. 17yo actually was laughing and giggling like I remember her from her younger days. Nice to see. Bought the photos again, terrific lunch again. Stuff all safely returned at showers, other stuff in bag all dry. This is also a great day. If you can do the steps, then go.

Sanur Beach Hotel
Look, I know I said last year I had to stay here because of the pool, well, it was nice even though I hardly got in but thats about it for me. This hotel is just a tad too big and too far to walk for me. I did opt for the stairs (4th floor) all the time to give my legs a work out. Its just that when I got to the pool one day I'd forgotten my towel and had to go to the loo but by the time I got all the way back up to the room, they were cleaning it and I was too embarrassed to ask to use the loo so another hike back down to find a loo. That sort of thing. Not my cup of tea. I offered US$44 a night excluding brekky they didn't want a deposit before arrival, but on arrival wanted rp500 000. Stayed here (2 rooms) for 4 nights.
I took off shopping when we arrived, so Hubby did check in. You may also remember from last year - I should not have let him do this.
When I got back late that night we'd been overcharged and there were breakfast vouchers everywhere. No. Down to reception with my confirming email. Girl didn't understand. (I was very nice about it) Along came important looking man - not happy about changing price per night and returning breakfast vouchers. 'Well, we will charge you USD$21 pp for breakfast if you change your mind"
No, I don't think we'll be changing our mind. See Donalds further on.
OK. Thats settled. Remember folks, take your email along confirming price and conditions.
Rooms: your average standard plastic hotel room. I mean they were nice, if you like that sort of thing with no local character.
A/C, tea & coffee facilites, all the sachets of stuff in the bathroom, about 41 channels on telly, lots of lights (and confusing light switches). Room service (bit pricy, and horribly expensive compared to the st as it always is, anywhere you go)
Can't tell you about brekky, lunch or tea as we didn't eat there.
Welcome drink at Bamboo Bar, did that to show 17yo. Too dear for us to drink there though. Honestly, we only stopped in long enough to sleep and shower so we didn't use any of their facilities.

Donalds (on the beach)
Again, good food, good price, welcoming and just like going home. I was a bit embarrassed when they started rounding down our bills each day. I think they need the money more than us but maybe they were recognizing our previous patronage. They are certainly assured of our future patronage. I must be on some kind of weird health kick because I usually aim for the full cooked breakfast but this time I was happy with their porridge and toast. Go figure. Their porridge is to die for. Hot with bananas and honey and milk. Really filling and yummy. Even their toast is a treat and also their jam. Such a nice setting too.

So, we're sitting down at Donalds one day and we'd been watching this party animal dog having a spazo. Anyway, without warning he took off towards the joint next door, ripped the table cloth off the table and took off like a bat outa hell toward the beach. Another dog joined in for a game of tug of war. Then party animal started digging himself and table cloth into a hole in the sand. He was buried up to his armpits! What a hoot. Must try it sometime.

Maggoes (sp) next door to White Shop.
Has been renovated to make larger and include covered area for bar and bands/dancing. Still great, in fact a bit better. Pinky Sanurs still good. Lovely tea - had pizza, 4 of us couldn't make it thru 3 of them. Also, great band and salsa dancing. 14 yo got up and had a lesson. Really lovely night.
Hello to Antoni at the White Shop. Stopped by each day for a drink and a chat. He was going home to his new baby.

Also met an expat chap there who went to Kuta each day to surf. He very kindly offered to take 14 yo for a lesson so next day off we went but pity of pities, surf waaaay toooo rough. Even he didn't go out.
How did I fill the time? Introduced myself to the beach girls under their colourful umbrella next to the Muslim cart and learnt how to make offering baskets etc. Here too, I discovered I would not make a decent living as I was too slow and ripped the leaves too often. These girls made me so welcome and included, and shared everything they had with me. Also minded my stuff while I slept and swam. I learn so much off these girls and was one of the most pleasant, personally satisfying days I have ever spent. One of their sarongs now graces our coffee table in lounge room.

When we went back a few days later, such a wonderful welcome and introduced 17yo & hubby and stayed for a massage and manicures etc.

Cat & Fiddle
Good. Tiny bit dear but 'hey'.
All their food was great, desserts even better. Almost have to do this place in 2 sittings to fit it all in. We rolled out of there a few times.
Had made great mates with the taxi chaps outside and would stop for a fag and to barter the price between them all for a taxi back to SBH!

Laundry
Street exit of SBH, cross the street and to your left. Also mini market, grog and currency exchange. All washing done here was fairly priced and returned spotless, dry and ironed. Also honest money changers and very helpful when we had mobile phone probs.

How to embarrass your teenage daughters
Lesson 1
1 Take washing to laundry place.
2 Sit back and watch as each article is brought out and held up to be assessed before being passed to young man to place in bag. This includes your undies !!!
3 Enjoy the mortified look on your daughters face and the various shades of red on her cheeks. Sorta like a good sunset
4 Extract payment from daughter to pick her laundry up as she is too embarrassed to go back again.

We had the utter pleasure meeting the acquaintance of Mr Bloody. Ron is such an intelligent, thinking and humorous chap. After strolling straight past him looking for S&S&S (although eyeing him wondering if we were at the right place) and him watching us stroll by wondering the same thing, we pretty much were accepted into the fold and met all the expats. I say 'pretty much' because it might have been a warmer reception if I didn't drink so much and start telling aboriginal jokes when unbeknown the chap next to me has a couple as foster kids. Whoops. I still cringe.
Anyway, we enjoyed Rons company very much, did dinner at Gateway to India which was very good and a BBQ next day back at Rons. It was while I was sitting there happy and relaxed, listening to the steaks sizzle and the little fella playing in the pool, that it finally dawned on me. 'Shauna' & 'Jordee' Holy Crap, sitting there for ever and I blurt out 'Inmyblood'. I tell you, everyone at Sanur was probably glad to see the back of me!
The atmosphere at Rons villas is that you are home and all is well.
The rooms are set around the pool (No Ron, I did NOT piddle in your pool) casually set with tables & chairs and sunlounges and loads of frangipanis. Small but not on top of each other if you know what I mean. It is way down at the quiet end of Sanur, only a minutes walk to either the beach or the shops.
I regret not booking a room now, although I think Ron was full anyway.
He is a wonderful host and I look forward to more time with him.

Villa Naga Maya
1 villa 2 bedroom shared pool between 2 villas 5 nights
I received a good rate from Merrick & he required 50% deposit. Sent TT. On arrival, I was trying to nick off to go shopping, but I was pretty much trapped until I signed the 2 page house rules paper which listed all the dos and don't of the villas. It included that the comments of the guests from the other villa could be used against you? (Page 2 section 4) what the ? I signed. Again I didn't get back til (you guessed it) Hubby had done the money thing at check in.
Apparently, so the story goes, Merrick wanted the other 50% on arrival. This is not what usually happens at hotels, and hubby said so. Merrick saw it from the view we were 'renting' a holiday villa, and therefore had to pay up front. ?? Merrick informs Hubby he can't withdraw rp3 mil from the ATM so Hubby goes into bank to get it but is charged as a cash withdrawal from Visa. (I still fume as I write this) Back to Merrick. The next bit came as total shock though. He also wanted a 'damage bond'. Get this: US$300. What the? Hubby trudges back to bank, absolutely fuming and actually ready to leave and book somewhere else. Pays damage bond and has a rotten day.
When I get home, he tells me and I have a rotten day too.
Hotel Owners Note: If you have conditions outside of normal hotels - SAY SO before we book.
All in all we didn't want to stay there.
Morning comes & I can't work the kettle - I've never used gas. Merrick helps there & I gingerly try my hand at blowing up Legian. I never did get the hang of it and waited for someone else to get up to do the explosion thing.
Also can't get door open to have a fag..... Still ready to leave.
There are a series of locks or something that if you don't get it right - well - no go.
The thing about the damage deposit and the accompanying 2 page legal doc which read more like a lease agreement is that it is not given back til you leave. Now, you tell me what we are supposed to do with rp 2 600 000 at midnight as we are leaving???
Sorry, but for this alone, we won't be staying again.
That in itself is a pity because we had a couple of nice days there and perhaps if not for the upfront payment/legal stuff/damage deposit - I might have been able to recommend VNM.

The villas are a mirror image and the photos on the net are correct.
They are quite close together and our outside table & chairs was directly in front of the other villas lounge doors. Not much privacy there I'm afraid but the other family there were at the beach most days.
The pool is small but pleasant. Directly opposite is the office with up to 3 staff working, so there is the coming and going all day which made me feel too awkward to lay back in my bikini to read or sunbake. We headed out each day or closed all the curtains and stayed in. We do like our privacy and we didn't have it there.
Breakfast at VNM is an absolute treat. Coffee, tea, juice, fruit etc with cereals w honey, muesli etc. Really very nice plus = a massive basket full of croissants (sp) and danishes. Including those ones with chocolate inside + jams etc. We rolled out after brekky each day. The 2 girls there are really very lovely. We were in the villa closest to the gate as you enter, and it has a day bed as the couch. This ended up being our preferred gathering spot all 4 of us! (as opposed to outdoors where we would all usually be). With a big flash telly, surround sound, DVD player and over 40 channels - who would want to ever get off the couch? Merrick is also very kind and has about a million DVDs which you may borrow. (The other villa had a regular modular couch) Our main poison whilst on the couch was duty free & the bread & butter pudding from BreadTalk where we ended up shopping every day. What am I talking about - we nearly bought the place out each day. Girls picked out the upstairs bedroom and we got the bottom one. Have to trot out thru the lounge to get to the bathroom. Upstairs is ensuite though. 1st night, 14yo & I hopped in the tub (biggest bath you've ever seen) and Hubby brought in drinky poos. I mean, its no good having a great bath if it isn't christened, hey girls. Merrick did say there was a while to wait for the hot water but all we got was tepid. In the shower, that meant not running the cold at all and when washing up, we added a kettle of boiled water to make it hot enough.

Ye Olde F**king Pub
Most unfortunately I have to tell you I had a rotten meal here - I sincerely hope that evening was a one off, as this place has a good reputation.
Service was slow, over an hour waiting for meal. Other table was singing and calling out. We were a bit more polite and waited quietly as we starved. Everyone elses meal was a bit ordinary but the pie I ordered had about 2 tea spoons of meat in the middle, it was all pastry and the wrong one at that. Peas cold and smothered in pepper. The Deb was just OK. I did mention it to the girl, and manager asked what she could do. I just asked not to have to pay for it. OK. I did buy an ashtray as a gift which was the same price to somehow make up for any loss they might have had. Anyway, we talked to another table of 4 and they were pretty much disappointed with their meals too. Sweet & sour pork was more like sweet & sour batter. Anyway, maybe just an off night.

Rickys @ Legian.
Made, (aka Ricky) our most wonderful friend and host - so lovely to see him again.
Ate a lot here and just hung out or had a drink.
Made thought 14yo should have a mobile and brought an old one around which he set up. In the end, it was a good move.
Dropped off our bras and other stuff to be passed on and also had the pleasure of meeting Chris & Ken. What lovely people. We were really sad to say goodbye 2 weeks later. Thank You guys - you know what for. x x

LA'casa & The Dinner Party
Did tea at La Casa one night. We missed out last time and this trip we had a system whereby each person got to pick where tea was each night on a rotational basis. La Casa it is.
This had to be the outstanding meal of the trip. Trouble is, I can't remember what we had. (sorry) I know 2 were steak, and 1 chicken in pyjamas I think. Anyway, Agus served us, what a delightful young man. Then along came Yogi. True entertainer and host, and now, friend for life.
2 nights later and we are having a dinner party with a couple of friends in the villa.
I suss the takeaway list of all the restaurants that deliver but want a little bit from each one. What to do? Walk round to La Casa of course. Between my limited Indo, pictures and Agus and Cooks limited english - we slowly create a menu for 6. Soup & mains. Deserts I have purchased from Breadtalk and can hear calling to me from the fridge. It is quivering with anticipation as I am.
Anyway, 3 araks later, I'm too wobbly to talk so wait for Yogi to come round. Yes, he can fix it all, AND deliver, AND serve. Is there nothing this young man cannot arrange? Champion.
Hubby doesn't think we've ordered enough food so we add more. l know we have plenty.
Back to villa for some serious duty free. Later Yogi arrives at villa to check we have enough crockery & seating etc. Amazing. I had made arrangements with the girls though and they had brought around napkins, cutlery etc. and Yogi liaises with them for serving crockery. All good.
Friends arrive, swim, couple of drinks. Food arrives. Merrick is wandering past, please join us. Yes, great.
Seafood chowder + garlic bread to die for. I was sorry when it was all over.
Now I ordered about 1/2doz entrees + salads + chips etc. and tried to explain I wanted it on one big platter. It was served on individual plates each with their own sauces & dips etc. Pretty close. Table is groaning.
We don't manage to get through half of it.
Deserts come out and now we are groaning.
Merrick says lets all go over to his place for a swim. Great. Move house. Into Merricks pool, finish up the duty free, drink Merricks dry, up the st for more & polish that off too.
We're all laying around in Merricks lounge which is something of a one off in this world. Laying back together on the couch doing pistachio nuts (which are my new favourite),watching DVDs, sleeping, drinking, Merrick gets up off the couch and nearly falls in the pool (yes, there is a pool in his lounge room). Might call it a night.
Its raining now as I walk our friends up the deserted street for a taxi. Good Night.
Next day, panadol sandwiches for breakfast and heaps of washing up as we go over our evening.
Yogi wanders over after lunch and we all end up in the pool again.

Got bored one day at VNM and Merrick let me garden. I had a lovely day. Coming from a cold climate its not often I have the chance to garden tropical plants.

IndoNational
Again - the best. We ate there about 3 or 4 times. Kerry & Milton are wonderful hosts and the food and staff are terrific. It felt like coming home in Indo and we were perfectly relaxed. My indebted thanks to Kerry for her all knowing, down to earth advice re my daughters invite out with a young man. x x

Breeze
Everyone can make an idiot of themselves from time to time. I guess this particular day was my turn (again). Stood near the corner of Garlic Lane and hailed a taxi. We all pile in & I ask the driver for Jl Sahadewa. The taxi driver is falling about laughing. I give him rp20 000 and walk off as quickly as I can with my dark glasses and coat collar turned up. Family won't walk with me.
Breeze wasn't that good. The food was very average, staff inattentive, seats uncomfortable and we left as soon as we were finished. We were hassled the entire time by kids selling fruit and nearly getting run over.

Waterbomb
Awesome as usual. Went with friends. No probs.

Shopping
14yo - around Legian wherever she wanted to go. Got bikes off the st and paid the riders to take us here and there. Mostly gifts for her friends, few tops etc. Fixed price in Poppies. Shopping stamina material from Wayan & Friends - very nice. Nice staff too.
Kopi Pot - the bale up the back with the cushions - black rice pudding 10/10 lemon meringue pie 10/10
17 yo - Only at Tootsies at Sanur. She sat on the couch and ordered 2 garbage bags of clothes. Done. Happy.
Me - drove all over ? (near the bird park) looking for the Barong painting I saw last year. Went thru about 1/2 doz galleries even talked to 3 guys about getting it commissioned.
The Barong I was after is (I think) modern style, oils, bright and with Barong in full ceremonial gear, looking like he is fresh from a party. It is about 2m x 1.5, so pretty big. Answers range from - 'No, this is impossible', ‘No, he is never on his own' to 'Yes, USD$7000'.

Next day sitting around with Yogi, phone call - chap at gallery has found a painting, can he bring it over? Yes, please!
Its very close, and I know I'm not going to find anything closer. I ask if the painter could add frangipanis and holy water to his beard? Yes, no problem. Agree on 31/2 million. Will be over tomorrow. I pay 1/2 mill deposit but it was not expected. I hardly sleep.

Down to the bank. Hubby reminds me I cannot withdraw 3 million from the ATM so I go up to the counter & ask if I can have 3 million from savings? Yes. No problem. When docket comes out, I recognize it as cash advance on Visa. No, I want to use MY money from savings account. No one has a clue. Manager comes out. Sorry, cannot do. OK. Please cancel the cash advance. (I figure I'll get most of it thru ATM today & tomorrow and borrow and steal off family.
No, cannot cancel. This has all taken a while, there is a queue behind me, it is hot and I am getting bothered.
You CAN cancel the cash advance (used to work at ANZ) and I haven't signed the transaction to authorize it. May I use your phone to ring Visa? No. They have my card and passport.
Outside, nearly crying. Ring Made, have a fag, eyes welling up.
Made arrives for moral support, telling him what has happened I feel sick. Another fag. Get it together.
Deep breath.
I walk back into bank and wait for name to be called.
Sorry, we have cancelled your request. Please withdraw 3 mill from ATM. WHAT?
Unbelievable. wander over to ATM, withdraw 3 million, walk out.
Up to Mades, need a stiff drink to calm down.

Artist rocks up to villa with interpreter, adds frangipanis and holy water. Dry, rolled, paid, everyone happy.

Jetstar strongly suggest I have it bubble wrapped (50 000) and no charge on either flight home.
Barong now graces our lounge room wall (on a frame)
I am happy to have the benevolent god beside me.
So all up my shopping consisted of Barong painting, 2 long sleeve t shirts and a coffee mug.
Hubbys shopping consisted of me buying him clothes and stuff as I went around. This included the NON waterproof watch he wore while kayaking and fell out, which Antoni tried to fix to no avail. Still Happy.
Best shopping was to be had on JL66 as less hassling etc. Just be careful crossing the road!

Mades Warung for black rice icecream. JL66 Not that good. However, hubby ordered their black rice pudding, and it was even creamier and better than Kopi Pots, so, new haunt for our old favourite.

Galaxy (Seminyak)
Now, perhaps I had a naive upbringing but this place opened my eyes.
We were with Made. As we rocked up I saw a heap of people all standing around on the street and sparks flying everywhere. God, theres been a crash and they're cutting someone out of the wreckage....No, silly, its the chap in the black spiderman outfit with the metal belt on, running the angle grinder over it while he is dancing in the sparks. Yes, of course, as you do.
OK. Stop staring and sit down. Have a drink.
Out wanders his mate with the swinging bowls of fire and away he dances. A few more drinks, the place is packed. Out wander 3 girls in tiny briefs & bras with see thru baby dolls on. Oh, a lingerie parade. Bit odd at a nightclub isn't it?
Then they start dancing and it dawns on me.
Ohhhhhh. Their dancing is a bit seductive if you know what I mean, right in your face, on your lap, on the coffee table. OK
Hubby doesn't know where to look, so I tell him to grow up and just perve his little heart out. Mades happy, 14yo and is just smirking at her dad being so uncomfortable.
More of our angle grinder friend, more drinks, our pal with the fire, more drinks, out come the girls again. Wearing even less. The young guys are out of their brains. Laying on the floor filming up while the girls dance on top of them....da da da Buy Made another drink and good night.
Boys - you must put this place on your list for all bucks nights.

Our driver thru all of this, is I Made Sudarta 081 557 66193. We used Made again because of all the usual stuff and because we trust him. He became the proud dad of his 2nd child, a little girl and the last time we used him, Hubby gave him money for petrol to go and see her and his wife.
We will use him again.

Coconuts Hotel
Opp Rickys Jl Padma Utara
Had taken a bagging on the internet so I thought I would check it out for myself. Budget, small, no frills, tidy. Staff at reception happy to show me around. A/C, indo telly, HOT water, rooms very nice for budget. Pool area landscaped very well and sunlounges (both) tired, but still tidy. Brekky upstairs. As we were opposite during our stay at Maharta, I can tell you I didn't hear a peep from Coconuts so obviously not many drunken parties in their pool. I was offered rate of rp200 000 twin incl brekky for next year. This is good. They do say they are directly on Legian Beach, but it is actually a little gate you go thru.

Laundry
Just about next door to the Sports Bar before La Casa. It's the little supermarket with 2 chairs & tables out front. Rp60 000 a load, not ironed, but dry & folded so neatly, it doesn't need it. Mmmmm smells good too. Small Bintang rp1400.

Total cost 4 of us ex Launceston, airfares, all accommodation, insurance $3676.00
This was way less than it cost the 3 of us last year. All due to getting the Jetstar $2 tickets.

Heaps more, but this is long enough.
