I don't understand why bottles in check in luggage are being taken. We regularly do this.

If you buy something in Aus and don't finish it you must pack in your check luggage in to conform to lags regs (new carry on liquid limits). What you pack in your check in has no relevance when departing Bali.

It does, however, count towards your bring in allowance (2.25ltr per adult). If you have 500ml left and purchase 2 litres each (supposing 2 people are travelling) on arrival back in Aus. You have a total of 4.5 litres. That is 2.25 litres each.

If only one travelling you must do the math, just don't go over the 2.25 litre allowance.

My only other advise is to pre order before departing Aus., for pick up on return. At the moment buying in Bali is a bit hit and miss whether you will get it through with the new regs, even if purchased after customs and sealed.

Hope this hasn't confused the issue!!!
