Auckland Have closed. The Perth, Sdyney, Melbourne and Darwin offices are all open.

This is part of the much hated re-structure that Garuda did to try and make more profits by closing ports that were not measuring up.. Sadly had they just reduced flights through 06 then they would have been able to ride the wave this year and see record travel from all ports. I think they threw out the baby with the bath water.

Timimg is everything and on the advise of accountants that they had in they looked back rather than forward and gave those ports the chop. We hope to see the decisions reversed in the next year - the sooner the better.

Garuda has in fact made a profit in the first quarter this year but in my opinion was not about the changes they made just timing and the huge turn around in travellers deciding to go back to Bali. By and large I think they owe a debt of gratitude to their opposition Jetstar who put big bucks into media advertising Bali. Has helped resotre confidence accrosss the board when it seemed all were too frightened to use the B word.

Happy travels
