Hi
We have just returned from 16day holiday in Bali & Lombok.I loved Lombok less trafic more relaxed clean beaches and clean water. It is paradise and I wish we had gone there for longer. We stayed at the Sheraton Sengiggi beach. Must be the cheapest sheraton in the world we booked it here in Australia on the starwood website cost us about $117 per night inc tax.Really nice hotel all rooms have a ocean veiw with a balcony for drinks. We hade a family of bats living in a coconut tree in front of our balcony.Sengiggi has heaps of restaurants you can walk along the beach and pick one from there or walk along the main road and there are more restaurants there.
Get a driver and go on a drive around lombok we only had 5 hrs to do one so we only saw north lombok which was really beautiful untouched not much traffic sweeping veiws of mountain ranges and clean beaches with white sand and coral bays.
We then went to the gilli islands which was even more beautiful then lombok stayed at the Beach house which organised every thing for us from pick up at hotel to private speed boat to hotel. The Island is amazing no moterised vecihles only push bike and horse and cart.We stayed on Gilli Trawangan the most populated of the three but you still had space and felt like you have stepped back in time. Can't recommend the Beach House enough bbq sea food at night was really good and drinks were cheap. We went on a snorkling trip saw some nice coral that wasn't bleached a few turtles and lots of fish.
We talked to a young Aussie couple who said the boat trip over was like a submerine water can get very rough with a few big waves. I would fly it was quick and cheaper than the boat.If I was to go again I would go to lombok for at least 5 days and 3 days at least chilling on the islands.I just loved it and can't wait to go back.
Happy travels
