going by myself

i've decided to go over by myself because my sister can't get away but am a bit concerned as my friend over there is muslim and i know ramadam is 13 sept - 13 oct. are the weeks before and after ramadam busy? do things close down during this time? i know about ramadam just wondering how much time to leave either side of it. thanks Y
