I met someone today who HATES Bali !!

A Sales Rep called into work today and whilst waiting for my boss to finish his phone call, the Rep and I went into the staff room to make coffee and chit-chat. The conversation led to me saying I was holidaying in two weeks and was counting down the hours, not just the days. She ofcourse asked where I was going. Bali, I replied. The look of shock and horror on her face stunned me. You will hate it, she said. I explained that this will be trip number 7 and in fact, we love the place. She then told me how she went to Bali for a 10 day honeymoon. After 3 days they could not stand it any longer and rang their travel agent to arrange for them to get out of there. Two days later they were back in Oz. Hell on Earth, is exactly what she said. (Obviously she has never been to India !!). I was mortified. Bali is in our blood and I felt as though she had insulted a close loved-one or even me personally. I asked her what the problem was - where do I begin she said. The smells, the over-friendly people, the beach sellers and the food, she absolutely hated the food. Amazing - all the things I love about Bali, she hated. She started to mention bombings and I just put my hand up and said 'don't even go there'!! I feel hurt for my friend Bali (if that makes any sense).

Two weeks ago we met DebM from the forum and had a great Bali chat. Deb and her family travel to Bali often and she was a wealth of information. Today I met the anti-Bali equivalent whom, interestingly enough, is also named Deb. Has anyone else felt this way ?
