Hi everyone
I have just received this email from LAGS (Liquid, Aerosols and Gels regulation team!!). Hope the information is of help to someone trying to understand the regulations.

"The new aviation security measures that come into effect from 31 March 2007 apply only to liquids, aerosols and gels . Any liquids, aerosols and gels that you wish to take with you onboard in your carry-on baggage must be in containers of 100ml or less. The containers must be placed in a single transparent, resealable plastic bag of no more than one-litre capacity, for example a 20cm x 20cm or 25cm x 15cm bag. This plastic bag must be presented for inspection at the screening point together with your other carry-on baggage. Each passenger is allowed only one plastic bag. Larger amounts of liquids, aerosols and gels must be placed in checked-in luggage.

The new security measures apply only to carry-on baggage. There are no changes to the amounts of liquids, aerosols and gels that you may carry in your checked-in baggage. Please note that the restrictions on the transportation of dangerous goods in your check-in baggage still apply. For more information on dangerous goods please go to the Civil Aviation Safety Authority website at www.casa.gov.au

You may also refer to the Department of Transport and Regional Services website at http://www.dotars.gov.au/transport/security/aviation/LAG/index.aspx for more information on the new liquids, aerosols and gels measures.

I hope this information is of assistance.

Kind regards
